Review of Netflix's Jessica Jones

I love Marvel. I am so in love with all the new comic book hero movies and series out these days.   Netflix has developed lots of original shows and one of them was Daredevil. Season 1 was amazing and can be watched anytime on Netflix. Season 2 is still several months away but I am already anticipating how awesome it will be. Rumor has it that the Punisher will make an appearance on the new season.  Netflix didn't stop there...... they introduced another original Marvel series in Jessica Jones.
Jessica Jones ( played by Krysten Ritter) is  a private investigator with supernatural strength and abilities.  She lives in Hell's Kitchen just like Daredevil. She is not our typical superhero by any means. She swears and drinks excessively. She is a very good sleuth and so the opening season finds her helping a couple whose daughter has gone missing. Enter Jessica's archenemy Kilgrave.  Kilgrave (played by David Tennant) has the power to control minds and no issue using this for his every whim.  The series revolves around her proving that he exists so she can exonerate an innocent young girl accused of murder.  We meet Jessica's bff Trish Walker, a former child star ( played by Rachael Taylor), her neighbor Malcolm (Eka Darville), her sometimes boss Jeri Hogarth ( Carrie-Anne Moss), and her love interest Luke Cage (Mike Colter). Luke also has special abilities.  This series was AMAZING!  There were references all through the season to other characters in the Marvel universe. The overall feel to the series is kind of dark and gritty.  One word of warning ......there are some very adult scenes that may not be appropriate to younger viewers.  I highly recommend this series.
