Review of Gettin' Dirty by Sean Moriarty

Well this was supposed to be up yesterday however my computer was not cooperating with me....so without further ado I give you .....my review of Gettin' Dirty.

I received this as an ARC from NK  Author Services as part of a blog tour.  I was immediately sucked in just from reading a brief blurb on it. I am happy to say that it lived up to my expectations.

Seamus is a retired hitman wandering around looking for something or someone to do with himself when he sees Aaliyah in a grocery store and knows he just has to have her.  He spends the rest of the book trying to convince her that he can protect her and her daughter no matter what the cost.  He is positive she is the girl of his dreams almost right away, however she takes a little more time to decide that for herself.

My Thoughts:

The sexual tension between these two is more than decent but I couldn't help but cringe at some of the choice of phrasing.  I wouldn't give this my best rating but I will be giving it 3 stars on Goodreads.

Spontaneous by AAron Starmer- Review

**I received a copy of this from First to Read in exchange for my honest review.****
This is maybe one of the shortest reviews I have ever posted but.... I really don't have much to say.
I reviewed the book because it is always good to read something a little different from time to time.  The basis of the book is that teenagers start randomly exploding in a small NJ town.  I thought it sounded a bit morbid but also extremely funny.  I did not really enjoy this book.  It is pretty graphic with the language and gore which was not a deal breaker in itself. The humor was just a little to dark for me.  The main character, Mara, is pretty smart but also very sarcastic.  There is an FBI agent who comes to town to see why all this is happening but just ends up being very annoying.  I did kind of like that the president had such a "colorful" vocabulary.  This is a YA book that I feel would be more enjoyed by teens and early 20 somethings or just people who like the gory.

Suicide Squad Review

I know it's been a minute since I posted any reviews on movies I have seen  recently.  I was so stoked about the release of DC Comics/Warner Bros Suicide Squad that I made the family watch it with  me opening night.  Ok....that's a lie. Our local theater does Thursday advance showings on some movies so that was actually when we saw it.  IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!!

You can probably tell who my favorite character was by the clip (from YouTube) above.  I went into the movie knowing just the basics about who the Suicide Squad was and why they were getting their own movie.  I knew some of the characters from my childhood when I actually read comics but others were new to me.  I have always been a pretty big fan of Harley Quinn as far as bad guys go.  This film just made me love her even more and cringe at all the inappropriate costumes uninformed parents will be letting their little girls run around in this Halloween.

So the plot was not really that good. It is basically about stopping the chaos the has happened since Superman's (alleged) death in Batman vs Superman.  The government aka Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) decide to form an army of "baddies" to defeat the criminal element.  The bad guy here was Enchantress (Cara Delevingne).  Spoiler Alert: She also happens to be living in the body of June Moone, girlfriend to none other than Rick Flagg. The action and snappy one liners are what save the movie.  Plus, let's not forget the amazing cast....Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jay Hernandez, Jai Courtney,Jared Leto, and Adelwale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Joel Kinnaman.  Also some surprise guests in the form of Common, Scott Eastwood, and Ben Affleck.

I really believe music plays just as big a role in films as the actors.  The soundtrack to this one was brilliant. It has a little bit of everything but the overall feel is dark and kinda badass. In addition to a killer soundtrack...the setting was also perfect.  The real action does not take place in Gotham but there are plenty of tie ins.

Overall I give this an 8/10 stars.  Why not 10 you ask? Well, the Joker was barely in it and this mad me sad. Also, not all characters got as detailed a backstory as Harley and her Puddin'. FYI: There is an extra scene after the credits that really, really, made me excited for the next installment.

Happy Pants Cafe-Review

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**

If you haven't heard of Mimi Jean Pamfiloff then you are missing out BIG TIME!  I am a huge fan our romances especially ones that make me laugh out loud. I don't mean a small, dainty, feminine, giggle.  I mean a big, ol' belly laugh that ends in a snort. Yep that is my type of book. If you love anything by Alice Clayton ( see my previous posts on her Redhead Series) then you will absolutely fall in love with Mimi Jean.  I laughed from beginning to end.  Today she dropped her newest release Tailored for Trouble.

I read Happy Pants Cafe` since it is a prequel to Tailored For Trouble. So here is a quick overview....

Harper met Austin when she was 9 and he was  and they become the best of friends. He was chubby and had super thick glasses.  She fell head over heels in love with him.  The day her family was moving was the day she had planned to tell him this very thing. However, he was kissing one of her sister's friends, leaving Harper heartbroken.
Flash forward several years and as she has finally landed her dream journalism job, she realizes the super hot "Ken doll"that is her competition, is none other than Austin himself.

What ensues are some of the funniest scenes I have ever read.  There are front page pics on the tabloids,a crazy ex-fiance, magical cookies, crazy chemistry, an arrest, and a surprise marriage after a very drunken night.  How can you not want to read this book?  Austin and Harper have off the chart steaminess and  I am super stoked to read the next installment.

Happy Reading!!!

Review: You Were Always Mine by Cerise DeLand

I love reading anything from Cerise DeLand!  This is actually the first in her new series 7 Brides for 7 Seals. ** I was given a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.**   I like reading romances and the hotter the guy the better.  I was not disappointed by this story.  It was short so not a lot of time was wasted with background characters or unnecessary "fillers".  It was a fast, steamy, and touching read.

Nick Reardon is a Navy Seal who lives his life a day at a time with no intention of having any complicated romantic relationships.  His line of work makes it hard for him to settle down and have a "real" relationship so he is content to lead the life of a bachelor.  Then an unexpected meeting at an airport leaves him reeling.  He is instantly struck by the beauty in front of him who graciously upgraded his ticket as a thank you for his service .  Not only is she a knockout but he has the very distinct feeling that he knows her from somewhere.  He makes it his mission to figure out why he is so attracted to her and just how he knows her.

Abigail Stuart was just trying to make a nice gesture to the Seal in the airport.  She was on her way to see her brother, also a Seal, in the burn unit in San Antonio.  She spotted the "scrumptious SEAL with the sunny hair and aqua eyes and the sex appeal of a Trojan warrior"  from a mile away".  Nick is the very last guy she should be interested in but their attraction was electric and undeniable.

Nick and Abby are almost magnetically drawn to each other and it doesn't help that they are the only 2 able to see some ghostly visitors that seem to be encouraging the couple to take a chance on each other.  The chemistry between them is well written and very hot.  The biggest surprise for me was the supernatural element to the story.  I love history and supernatural  type things so it was a perfect fit for me.  I look forward to reading the next installment!

My official vote: 4 out of 5 stars ( not 5 because I wish it had been longer lol)

Release Blitz for Desiree Holt's Omega Team

Changing Perspectives (A Montgomery Family Novel Book 2) by Tamara Hoffa

Angelina Montgomery’s biggest worries were graduating her Master’s degree program and finding time for a social life. The voluptuous brunette crooned sweet love songs to the crowds of the Cowboy Saloon every weekend, but hadn’t been on a date in almost a year. When flowers and gifts started arriving at her door from a secret admirer she was initially flattered. But when her car was broken into that inclination changed to fear.
Retired Army Ranger Luiz Hernandez was one of Omega Team’s top agents. His Cuban heritage and scared visage made him the perfect man to infiltrate South American drug cartels. So why the hell were Grey and Athena sending him to babysit a co-ed with a stalker? He didn’t want the assignment, but he would do his duty.
That duty changed when he set eyes on Angelina, and he had a new mission…capture her heart.
Nothing would stand in the way of a Ranger and his goal. Not age, emotional baggage, and certainly not a mad man hiding in the shadow

Running With Risk by Shaye Harting

Clarence “Risk” Campbell turned in his spurs for Night Stalker wings in the army. Now a new member of the Omega Team, his first mission—to extract the daughter of a congresswoman from a worn-torn country—has gone sideways when the woman insists that the real danger lies with her mother. Determined to complete his mission the best way he knows how, Risk brings the feisty, yet alluring, woman back to his family’s ranch in Wyoming. It’s the one place he’s sure he can keep her safe, whatever the danger, unless that danger comes from his growing desire for her.

Dr. Ruth Cabot turned her back on the socialite life and has dedicated herself to practicing medicine where people need her the most. The last thing she expects is for a flying cowboy to snatch her up and literally carry her off. Having spent the last few years avoiding attempts on her life, she has no intention of letting Risk deposit her back in the arms of the enemy. Avoiding the temptation of his protective embrace is another story.

With both their careers and lives on the line, Risk and Ruth form an alliance born of heat and need. They’re flying by the seat of their pants as they navigate around the mounting danger and their growing attraction.

Love: Classified by Liz Crowe

When a spring morning fog shuts down the Detroit Metro airport, Omega Team member Joey Preston is stranded along with thousands of others—including one harried young woman trying to get home to Kentucky.

Paige DiFerrari thanks fate for keeping her on the ground in Detroit, since all she really has waiting for her back home are disapproving parents and a wedding weekend her prettier, more successful, younger sister has planned. Preoccupied with thoughts of escaping the ordeal completely, thanks to the weather, she turns a corner of the crowded airport, gets coffee dumped down her front thanks to Joey, and her life changes forever.

What starts as a trick to convince her parents she has a cute, private security employed boyfriend, ends in a way neither Joey nor Paige expect once they get home and encounter the full force of the DiFerrari family dysfunction in the face of a stressful weekend. Before Joey leaves Kentucky for his next assignment, he must confront his feelings about Paige—the good and the bad—as well as reveal the truth about himself.

When he is called for a solo mission to play the hot-and-heavy boyfriend to a young woman for the weekend at her family home in Key West because he’s a Dom, he nearly passes on the job. Until he finds out her brother-in-law is the celebrity attorney who got a dangerous killer off on a technicality. The very serial killer who Ben believes murdered one of his partners. Now there was no way he can turn the mission down.

Medical Examiner Margret “Daisy” Keller likes dead people. They don’t talk. But she needs more than silence right now. She needs two things—to finally find out the truth behind her sister’s disappearance three years ago and to get her career as an M.E. for Hillsborough County back on track.

As lines between them blur, Ben realizes things aren't exactly as they seem. Daisy is hiding something from him. What he doesn’t know is how far she’s willing to go to keep him in the dark…or why.
