I Love This Book!

I have seen this actress on a few shows over the years but I love her on Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce so when I saw that she had a book out, I had to read it.  I absolutely love when a writer sounds on paper the same way they do in real life.  This book was filled with real talk and I was cracking up reading about her purse addiction as well as what it has taken for her to get to where she is in her career now.  Retta is a smart and determined actress that didn't sugar coat her story.  I am glad that NetGalley gave me the chance to read this book because it's been a while since I have read an autobiography that was as entertaining as this one.

This book was published May 29 and Barnes and Nobles has it so I recommend you grab yourself one to read! You won't be disappointed.

Matcha Do About Nothing - NovelTea Tin NovelTeas

So I have been seriously off track with my blogging schedule these past few months.  I had no idea my daughter's last 2 months of high school would be so hectic and there were some family illnesses on top of that.  Finally, all is settled down for the moment and with the kiddo's move in date for college rapidly approaching in the next 6 weeks I figured it was time to get back on track.

I am a huge fan of tea. I am not even kidding.  I actually have a designated tea cabinet in the kitchen and on any given day there are like 8-10 different kinds.  I also really like discovering unique new products and color me surprised when I stumbled upon not 1 but 2 tea companies doing some pretty cool things while I was scrolling through Instagram.  I will include links to their sites and/or social media platforms below the description of each. Please do yourselves a favor and check them out...you will not be disappointed.

First up is a company that shares my love of both books and tea in such a cool way. NovelTeas is a company that sells teas in in specialty tins or even loose leaf that are paired with a classic book for inspiration (see the photo up top right from their website because any photo I take could never do them justice). They literally create tea blends to match the theme of a classic novel.  I follow them on Instagram and Facebook because I just can't get enough of their cool designs and the tea.....is simply delicious. My favorite is Pride and Peppermint.

The second company is called Pollin8.  Their mission statement says it all.  They just want to spread love and happiness to everyone and their method of distribution are tea bags.  They have custom themed boxes with cool blends and names like Bestea and Beautea.  The best part about it are that the tags all have super positive and motivational sayings. The tags are even stickers so you can keep them anywhere you want so you will always have them.  I am planning to order my self some in the next couple weeks but I have a friend who has ordered in the past and says they are the cutest boxes ever and the tea is insanely good.  The story behind the company is really awesome too.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Why I Liked It

I grew up watching the Jurassic Park movies and was a little excited yet skeptical when a new one showed up starring Chris Pratt.  I love Chris Pratt but I was unsure how they could capture the overall mood of the first movies and make it interesting for new, younger audiences.  Needless to say, it was amazingly well done.  I loved everything about the 1st one featuring these new characters ( and some older ones also). We loved it so much in my household that naturally we purchased a copy and then promptly had a Jurassic Park marathon.

Here we are in the beginning of Summer 2018 and the newest (and hopefully not the last) installment has opened.  My daughter and I couldn't wait to see it and it did NOT disappoint.  It had the same level of humor and balanced it perfectly with the right amount of action and thrills.  I  will hopefully not give away too much of the movie with my next few comments.  The movie takes place a few later and shows how the dinosaurs have been left to run Isla Nublar in the wake of the park breakdown.  The issue at hand is that the island contains an active volcano that is on the verge of errupting and potentially killing all life forms on it.  Claire Dearing ( Bryce Dallas Howard) has spent her time trying to gain public and poilitical support to save the dinosaurs and have them be given the same rights as any other animals. She is given the opportunity to help rescue as many of them as possible by an old friend  and she jumps at it.  This is where everything goes sideways.  I won't say anymore about the plot at this point BUT.....there was one particular scene that actually made me tear up. I was completely unprepared to feel that while watching this film.  There is also a surprise twist that I SHOULD have seen coming but yet didn't.  I loved this film..maybe even more than any of the others.  Great movie!
