I grew up watching the Jurassic Park movies and was a little excited yet skeptical when a new one showed up starring Chris Pratt. I love Chris Pratt but I was unsure how they could capture the overall mood of the first movies and make it interesting for new, younger audiences. Needless to say, it was amazingly well done. I loved everything about the 1st one featuring these new characters ( and some older ones also). We loved it so much in my household that naturally we purchased a copy and then promptly had a Jurassic Park marathon.
Here we are in the beginning of Summer 2018 and the newest (and hopefully not the last) installment has opened. My daughter and I couldn't wait to see it and it did NOT disappoint. It had the same level of humor and balanced it perfectly with the right amount of action and thrills. I will hopefully not give away too much of the movie with my next few comments. The movie takes place a few later and shows how the dinosaurs have been left to run Isla Nublar in the wake of the park breakdown. The issue at hand is that the island contains an active volcano that is on the verge of errupting and potentially killing all life forms on it. Claire Dearing ( Bryce Dallas Howard) has spent her time trying to gain public and poilitical support to save the dinosaurs and have them be given the same rights as any other animals. She is given the opportunity to help rescue as many of them as possible by an old friend and she jumps at it. This is where everything goes sideways. I won't say anymore about the plot at this point BUT.....there was one particular scene that actually made me tear up. I was completely unprepared to feel that while watching this film. There is also a surprise twist that I SHOULD have seen coming but yet didn't. I loved this film..maybe even more than any of the others. Great movie!
