***Thank you to the author, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for the advanced reader's copy of this book. The following review is my own honest opinion of the material.***
**Thank you to Mimi Jean Pamfiloff for an ARC of this amazing book. The following review is my own honest opinion.**
I have been a huge fan of Mimi Jean since I read by first book by her and she never, ever disappoints. This is book 3 in her newest series, Mr. Rook's Island. All her stories contain such memorable characters that I can't imagine there isn't something for even the pickiest readers to like.
I love a good book with humor but this series was darker and a little more serious just every bit as enthralling. There were several times throughout this book where I would have bet money on what was gonna happen next.....and every single time I was wrong! The fact that the love between James and Stephanie is so strong is only just one of the many things that I loved about this story. It had everything from romance to action to loss and every other emotion under the sun. This is a must read that I rated 4 out 5 stars. Why 4 you ask? Simply because I was sad when this amazing adventure was over.

***I reviewed a digital copy of this that Randomn House Publishing Group-Ballantine books and NetGalley graciously provided to me. All thoughts and opinions are my own.***
I have a fascination with history in general. I really love the mystery that has always surrounded the Romanov family. This was a lengthy book but in the spirit of full disclosure.....it was AMAZING. I couldn't put it down. The way the story is told from Maria Feodorovna's point of view adds so much to the plot. C.W. Gortner wove a story that combined truth and embellishments into a wholly believable tale of intrigue, mystery, family, murder, and politics. 5 stars all the way!
