Netflix Has Some Amazing New Shows

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while since I've posted on any sort of regular basis but what can I say....stuff happens.  The holidays came and went and with my daughter home on Christmas break I spent a lot of time watching TV and not a lot of time reading.  The good news is that I was able to put a nice little dent in "My List" of things to watch on Netflix.  Here is the list of shows/movies I watched and what I rated them:

***Trailer provided by Netflix and Youtube****

Birdbox:  This Netflix Original film stars Sandra Bullock and it was.....weird but good. It's basically about people trying to survive some sort of supernatural epidemic.  Sandra Bullock is the main character and she is trying to get her family to a safe haven. There no one has to wear blindfolds to avoid looking into the eyes of the infected and they have plenty of food.  The issue I had is that you never actually see what infects everyone that makes them kill themselves.  It leads you to believe that it is their worst fear that causes them to take their own lives upon seeing it.  The movie is worth watching for sure.  It's dark and a little scary.  I would say 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina:  This is a new series based on the comic book character.  If you are around you watched the movie/TV series starring Melissa Joan Hart when you were young.  I loved them then and I love, love, love this reboot series that is so far from the original you would hardly realize they are based on the same characters.  I love Riverdale because it has dark and dangerous undertones and this show has the same type of feeling.  The cast is fantastic.  I watched the whole season plus the holiday episode the same nights they were added and now can barely stand the wait for a new season.  The first series is about Sabrina turning 16 and being forced to choose between her witch side or her human side. This series is so fun! 5 out of 5 for sure!

You: This is another original series that I sincerely hope gets picked up for another run.  Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl) stars as a bookstore manager in NYC who for all purposes appears to be your average, slightly nerdy, good guy who's looking for love.  His character also narrates this series so you can understand why he does what he does.  It turns out there is way more than meets the eye.  Creepy and dark doesn't begin to describe all the emotions the viewer feels while watching this show.  I would be lying if I said I haven't started looking at people differently. 5 stars all the way!

Sex Education: This is a British series that had me dying.  The plot is all about a teenager whose mom is a famous sex therapist and he begins a side business, with the help of friends, giving sexual advice out to the kids at school.  It's very funny stuff. I give it 4/5 stars.

Bad Education Series & Movie:  This is also a British series about the worst teacher ever and his high school students.  We actually watched the movie first and then realized there was a series that led up to the movie.  Holy Hell did I laugh out loud watching all of this. 5 stars.

Trevor Noah-Son of Patricia:  This is a stand up special.  I will be the first to admit that my experience with Trevor Noah had been limited to the occasional video clip from his show or listening to his podcast.  I have had a good chuckle from time to time but I was NOT ready for how freaking funny his stand up comedy is.  I can't lie. I have watched this special 3 times and each time is just as hilarious! His accents are so on point it's insane. 5 stars, 5 stars, 5 stars!!!
