Review of The Earl Next Door by Amelia Grey

**Thanks to Amelia Grey and St. Martin's Press for the ARC. The review to follow is my own honest opinion of this book.***
Adeline, the Dowager Countess of Wake, has been enjoying the freedom that being a widow has given her for the past 2 years.  She knows that Society believes she has been in mourning but really she has just been allowed to finally breath and feel like an actual human again.  Her marriage was filled with hurt and disappointment but now she is about to re-enter Society and start a new life for herself.  Her best friends have also suffered from the same premature ends to their marriages.  All 3 widows decide that they must use their status and money to help those less fortunate.  They do this by starting a boarding school for the surviving daughters of a horrible shipwreck.  The school is located on the back of Lady Wake's property much to the disappointment of her neighbor, Lord Lyon Marksworth, the Earl of Lyonwood. Lyon has just returned from his other estates to be in London for the upcoming Season and is rudely roused from his sleepy the sound of laughing, screaming girls.  He decides he needs to put an end to it even if that means upsetting the very attractive and intriguing Lady Wake.

Lyon and Adeline are great characters.  I love the chemistry between them. Also, who doesn't like an old neighbor with a spy glass? This story sets the reader up pretty nicely for the rest of the series to come.  This was a fairly quick read but I felt like at some points the book was moving just a little too fast. Usually I would complain about a book taking to long to reach the obvious conclusion but with these characters I found myself wanting the game of cat and mouse to drag out a bit more. This is ANOTHER truly great read from Amelia Grey.

4 out 5 stars is my opinion of this 1st book in the new First Comes Love series. This waas released on May 28 so grab a copy form Amazon or wherever you buy your books
