V Wars is My Newest Vampire Addiction!

***Trailer courtesy of YouTube and Netflix****

I know it's been a while since I posted about what I have been binge watching on Netflix or Hulu or even what I've gone to the theater to watch but this series got me.  I will admit I was late to The Vampire Diaries series but have probably watched it all from beginning to end at least 3 times by now.

So....let's talk about how amazing and also just a bit scary this new Netflix original series is.  I HIGHLY recommend watching this is you are a fan of anything science fiction.  I was determined to watch this show as soon as I heard about it a year ago because....IAN freaking SOMMERHALDER!  I will be honest and say that I really didn't know too much about the show premise other than he was the star and there would be vampires.  The second he trailers went live I was already hooked.  This show is not based in the supernatural realm and that makes it very different than I had anticipated. I think it's worth mentioning that Sommerhalder's real life wife Nikki Reed (think Rosalie in Twilight) stars in the show as his ex-wife and mother to his son Desmond.  I also liked that Laura Vandervoort and Greg Bryk are both in this series together since I became fans of them when they were 2 of the main characters on the series Bitten.

The Plot:

Dr. Luther Swann (Ian Sommerhalder)  is one of the world's top scientist in the study of viruses. He has spent his life studying climate change and the impact of ice caps melting and exposing us to viruses that have never existed in modern times.  His worst nightmare comes true when 2 of his team members in the Arctic go missing without a trace. He calls his best friend Michael (Adrian Holmes) to go with him to check out the site and hopefully come up with some answers.  They end up being exposed to an unknown virus that causes them to be placed in quarantine.  They both respond very differently to the illness as it runs it's course.  It seems like Michael was unaffected but the truth is the illness causes him to gain some super scary strength and cravings for blood among other things.

The virus spreads rapidly and as society breaks down and restructures itself into the Vampire and Non-Vampire factions, Luther finds himself rushing to develop a cure before he loses everyone he loves.

My Final Rating:
